The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades
When I started this blog, it was to have a forum to complain about all the stuff that annoys me and save my family the trouble of listening to it. That clearly doesn't work as I complain to them anyway. I haven't posted lately because I don't have that much I want to rant on about.
No, I am not drunk.
Do I have an opinion about the USA elections?
Sure I do.
It's not over.
WHAT??
How many of my liberal friends just stopped reading? Do I still have any liberal friends?
Their loss.
The USA elections will end on or about January 5th after the vote of the senators from Georgia. Until then we don't know who won.
It will either be far left socialists who will redistribute assets and still do nothing for those who need the help or a lame duck government that will need to compromise to get anything done but that most likely will not want to compromise and will still end up doing nothing for those who need it most.
So what is there to say?
A few weeks ago I had a surprisingly good day. I started it by meeting someone for coffee in order to have a grown up conversation with a non family member. He is a Syrian Jew from Brooklyn, a friend of friends He made Aliyah recently with his wife and 4 kids. While here he has since added one to his group
We talked for almost two hours about how much we like it here and can't understand why everyone isn't joining us. Neither of us sees the allure of staying in the states with raising crime and anti-semitism. We know it is no picnic here and we are both fortunate to be able to live with a nice lifestyle without doing much. It still doesn't change where we both think it is heading over there.
That was a nice chat.
I then went to my daughter and spent some time with her and my new granddaughter ,who is really cute.
Lastly I went to my son to speak to him and a cousin about hi-tech companies ( everyone is doing it), and to see another cute grandchild.
I was in a really good mood but truthfully I could not figure out why. The weather was nice, the conversations were good and the kids cute, but I felt that those weren't the reason
Then it hit me.
I had found parking right in front of each of those 3 locations.
How great is that.
My son lives on the most narrow street imaginable. The cars that do find spots are packed so close together that I am not exactly sure how it is done.
I found a huge spot less that 20 meters ( about 65 feet) from his front door .
It was awesome.
This week was pretty good as well.
My family in Israel came to us for Shabbat. My son felt sick before Shabbat. One of my daughters ( who was not there) said we should send him packing as he might have covid and why take the chance.
Theoretically she was right but it was less than an hour before so we let him stay. He took a test on Sunday which turned out negative. That was good.
I have also been going through a very expensive and frivolous lawsuit for the last year. Although it should have ended a while ago, Covid pushed it off 7 months. Finally the verdict came in and the case was dismissed. That was good too.
Almost as big of a deal as finding a spot on my son's block.
Last time I posted, I said I did not want to be among the first to get the Covid vaccine.
Seems I am not alone.
Close to 75% of Israelis seem to feel the same way.
Now, the fact that 75% think it is a bad idea to vaccinate, has convinced me that I should actually be taking it. These are the same people who voted for Bibi , Gantz and the Haredi parties 3 times in a row.
What do they know?
Israel is planning to issue what they call a 'green passport' that will let those who get vaccinated to be free once again.
Can't wait.
Hope to see you all soon
