WTF. I just read this morning that there were 3 cases of Jews getting accosted in Brooklyn in the last few days. Another in Chicago. You can add to this Whoopi Goldberg not having a clue what the holocaust was, and a teacher in Tennessee teaching her students how to torture a Jew.She taught her students that all you need to do is write gods name out on a blackboard and make Jews read it out loud. Truth is I would take that over the actual ways we have been tortured. The more I think about it , perhaps we can convince the anti-Semites that this is indeed the worst torture there is for the Jews and they are wasting their time with any other. Speaking of Whoopi ( as I promised) I must admit that I sort of understand what got her in trouble. Firstly and clearly she has no real understanding of the Holocaust. I read an op-ed that was complaining that just because someone has a platform to speak, it doesn't mean they need to or that they actually know anything and on this subject, she does not.
But, are we a race?
Hitler thought we were. Clearly throughout history this was how we were seen at different times. However, are we , according to todays understanding , a race. Whoopi doesn't think so. I remember seeing a video not long ago where a Haredi guy on the train in NYC told a black woman she was a racist. She replied that she could not be since Jews are not a race. This is something that is being taught.
I have read people saying of course the Jews are a race, how else can I be Jewish if I don't follow the religion. Aren't there people who consider themselves non practicing Christians, or Muslims? Are Christians a race?
Lucky for us, we live in a time, where we get to decide how people view us. I am he/him today but could easily be she/ her tomorrow. I think that most Jews consider themselves part of a race ( even Jews of color). Since that is the case, then, by current thinking we are a race.
We say we are, so we are.
And lucky for us Amnesty International thinks so as well.
I did not read the Amnesty International report on Israel. I have heard that they basically said that Israel, from its inception in 1948 ( not 1967) has been and is currently an apartheid state. Apartheid is defined as segregation along racial lines. So we can use this as another proof that we are a race. Thanks Amnesty
I think this report is going to be great ammunition for those who hate us but I think it also has brought out the thoroughly anti-Semitic nature of Amnesty and their supporters, which people have been complaining about for years . I have no problem for someone who fairly criticizes Israel. Things are not perfect here. But when you basically ( and pretty directly ) say that the existence of Israel, the only Jewish state in the world, established by the United Nations because they recognized that Jews were the most persecuted people in the history of the world, is based on a crime, then you have shown your cards. You are a true anti-Semite.
Antisemitism is a powerful hate but how did we totally lose the narrative here. This is where you have to give the Palestinians credit. They play the long game. They have built on the fact that people consider the Palestinians weak and therefore Israel must be the oppressors. They believe this because of their lack of need of the seek truth, or to learn history and hating Jews is an old sport..

The Palestinians supported the Nazis in WWII. The mufti of Jerusalem went to Berlin to convince Hitler to set up death camps in the Yishuv, to murder all the Jews.
Does any right ( correct) thinking person support the defeated third Reich? Why is supporting Palestinians any different?

But Seth Rogen says that he was never taught that there were other people living here when Israel was established.
Was he taught that those same people supported the Nazi's and wanted to continue their murderous agenda.
Was he taught that more than 3 million Germans were deported from the Sudetenland , a place they had lived for over 1000 years and that no one is claiming on a college campus that they should be repatriated or that their 10's of millions of descendants are still refugees.
Have you actually heard of Sudetenland?

What also gets me upset is my friends in the USA who are still living with blinders on. How bad does it need to get?

I want to end this post with a complaint of religious insanity going on in Israel and it is not with the Haredim. It is with my own community.
2 recent incidences show the increasing radicalization of the national religious camp.
In one, there is a boycott of donating blood because Magen David Adom ( which is in charge of National Blood Services) decided to change the intake sheet for donors to read parent 1 and parent 2 instead of Mother and Father.
This is clearly in deference to the LQBTQRST community. I don't really care one way or the other but I can see why some people do.
What I can't understand is how, in any halachic or human understanding, a boycott on blood donation is acceptable. Are we really going to put people's lives in danger for this? Apparently so , as MDA is citing shortages due to this boycott.
COME ON ALREADY
The second incident concerns Rabbi Eliezer Melamed. For those of you who don't know, he is one of the ( if not the) foremost poskim ( religious decisors) of our generation. His books on halacha (Peninei Halacha) are found in almost every modern orthodox home in Israel ( all of his books can be found in English). This week 40+ Rabbis including many prominent ones from the national religious camp, said that these books can no longer be relied on.
Why? what was the big halachic mistake in these books?
There isn't any. There is another problem which is much bigger.
Rabbi Melamed met with Reform Rabbis, and supports the right of all Jewish denominations to pray at the Kotel.
EVIL MAN
Today some of the Rabbis who signed the letter said they were tricked, that they would never call for a boycott of Rabbi Melamed. For smart guys they get tricked more than they should.
The redeeming factor is that no one is going to listen to the boycotters. It might even have the opposite effect and highlight the humanity Rabbi Melamed is trying to teach us to have for our fellow Jews.
